FAQ

What is the difference between 600d and 1,000d?

600-denier is a polyester fabric; 1,000-denier is a nylon fabric. Denier is a measurement of weight, and to some degree, strand strength. 1,000-denier Cordura Nylon was originally a US domestic woven fabric introduced by DuPont. US woven 1,000d nylon was and remains a world standard in terms of quality nylon fabric. 600d polyester fabric was originally (and remains) an imported fabric woven to compete with or undercut the higher cost of high-denier nylons. 1,000d nylon is usually backed with a light urethane while 600d is usually backed with a heavy layer of PVC. Hence, 600d will weigh more (per unit) than 1,000d, but in strand size and strength, 1,000d prevails by a large margin (+/- 66%).
